Red Rock - Medicine Hat, Alberta

Nestled in the far southeast corner of our province, there is an odd coulee that contains these round red rocks that are scattered across the prairie landscape in dense clusters. They are called concretions and they are formed by softer sedimentary rock eroding away that surrounds the more dense rock formations. What is left after millions of years are these round rocks that are eroding and breaking apart themselves. This is a truly unique landscape in a rather mundane area that is filled with nothing but sagebrush.
